Why replace them

Keep your Smartbuds working like day one.

1

Quality data, day and night

Tips and wings are the electrodes (sensors) that pick up brain signals by making contact with your ears. Over time, the coating on the electrodes naturally breaks down, making them less effective at sensing. This makes the signal inconsistent, which shows up as gaps in your data.

2

Better sensing. Bigger benefits.

Worn wings and tips reduce signal quality, which affects how precisely Smartbuds detect brainwaves. As a result, you may not see the full benefits of brain-responsive experiences, including better sleep, sharper focus, and deep relaxation.

3

Keep things hygienic

Like any regularly worn earbuds, Smartbuds collect oils, skin cells, and moisture as they sit in your ears. Swapping them out is the simplest way to keep things fresh and clean.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often should I replace my Tips + Wings?

A set of Tips + Wings is designed for about 300 hours of use, though wear can vary. It may be time for a refresh if the app indicates poor signal quality or you notice visible wear, discoloration, or stretching.

Why do Tips + Wings need to be refreshed?

Tips + Wings are coated with our patented dry electrode material, the conductive surface your Smartbuds use to sense brain activity. That material naturally wears with use, so refreshing your Tips + Wings helps restore strong, consistent contact for your sessions.

How do I know which size to pick?

Start with the default size which comes pre-installed on your Smartbuds (Large tips and Large sleeves). If you've been having fit issues, size each one down from there. A properly-fit tip should sit snugly without pressure and stay in place when you talk or move. Most people fall in the Medium to Large range.

What's the difference between Tips and Wings?

Tips (canal tips) are the silicone pieces that sit inside your ear canal. They form the seal and are the EEG sensors in the canal. Wings are the small, flexible pieces that tuck into the outer part of your ear to anchor the bud so it doesn't fall out during the night or during movement and contain the outer two sensors for EEG signal capture.

How do I clean them between replacements?

Remove the tips and wings from the buds. Using a slightly damp (not wet), soft cloth, gently pat down areas of the wing and tips that have accumulated any residue. Avoid excessive rubbing and using soap or alcohol. For best results, use purified water.
