The Power of Slow Wave Enhancement
Using sound for more restorative sleep
During deep sleep, the brain generates slow waves—rhythmic pulses that signal your brain and body are recovering. Smartbuds enhance these waves with sound to improve sleep quality. Here’s how.
Realtime brainwave detection
Throughout the night, Smartbuds monitor your brainwaves in real-time. As your brainwaves shift, Smartbuds detect these shifts and recognize when you enter slow wave sleep.
Boost slow waves with sound
When in slow wave sleep, Smartbuds play audio in sync with your brain rhythms to increase slow wave activity.
Wake up with energy and clarity
Experience what efficient sleep feels like. Sharp focus, sustained energy, and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve maximized every minute of rest.

EEG & Brain data
What is EEG and why does it matter?
EEG (electroencephalography) measures electrical activity in the brain. It's the gold standard for sleep science, allowing Smartbuds to detect sleep stages and optimize audio in real time—unlike wrist trackers that only infer sleep from movement or heart rate.
Can Smartbuds read my thoughts?
No. EEG detects patterns like sleep depth or transitions—not thoughts, memories, or emotions. Your mental privacy is deeply respected.
Is my brain data private?
Yes. We never sell or share your data. Data sharing is off by default, and all information is encrypted, stored securely, and anonymized before leaving your device. You can delete your data anytime from within the app.
What is slow-wave sleep?
Slow-wave sleep, also called deep sleep, is the most restorative stage of sleep. It's when your brain produces slow, high-amplitude delta waves. This stage is essential for waking up refreshed.
Sounds
Can sound hurt my sleep?
It can—if it's the wrong kind. Jarring, unpredictable, or overly stimulating audio can disrupt your rest. That's why Smartbuds use gentle soundscapes specifically designed to support healthy sleep. When personalized and timed right, sound can actually enhance your sleep rather than interrupt it.
What is slow-wave enhancement?
Slow-wave enhancement is a technique that uses precisely timed sound (soft pink noise) to nudge your brain waves into their most restorative rhythm. This the enhances the quality of your sleep without waking you up.
Care & Cleaning
How do I clean my earbuds and sleeves?
Use a cloth dampened with bottled water to gently clean the surface. Let everything dry completely before using again. Clean weekly for best performance.
How do I replace my wings and/or tips?
Smartbuds' wings and tips require regular replacement to continue collecting brain data. Always handle them gently and even if you're only swapping out wings, you’ll need to take the tip off first.
Step 1: Remove the tip. Hold the earbud firmly in one hand. With the other hand, pinch the silicone tip near its base and pull it straight off using a slow, steady motion. Don’t twist or yank—these components are delicate and house important sensors.
Step 2: Remove the wing. Gently peel the wing away from the body of the earbud, starting at one edge and working around. It should come off with light, even pressure—no need to force it.
Step 3: Attach the new wing. Align the new wing so that the cutout fits neatly around the base of the earbud. Stretch the wing gently into place and press it down so it sits flush and snug against the earbud.
Step 4: Attach the new tip. Align the new tip with the nozzle of the earbud. Press it on firmly until it feels secure—you may hear or feel a soft click when it’s in place.
Are Smartbuds waterproof?
No. Avoid rain, heavy sweat, and any moisture exposure. Do not submerge them in water or wear them in the shower.
Apps & Features
What is sleep routine?
Your sleep routine is the window when you aim to be asleep—from your usual bedtime to your usual wake-up time. Setting it helps us customize your experience, like reminding you to charge your Smartbuds before bed. It doesn’t set an alarm or prevent you from starting a sleep session at a different time. Many users also find it helpful for setting sleep goals and keeping a consistent sleep schedule.
