Why replace them

Keep your Smartbuds working like day one.

1

Protect your nightly data

Tips and wings are the electrodes (sensors) that pick up your brain signals by making contact with your ear. When they wear out the signal becomes inconsistent - which shows up as noise and gaps in your sleep data. Fresh tips and wings restore a clean signal.

2

More slow waves. Better sleep.

Worn wings and tips reduce signal quality, which affects how precisely Smartbuds can time slow wave boost. As a result, you may not see the full benefits of slow wave enhancement: deeper, more restorative sleep.

3

Keep things hygienic

Tips and wings sit in your ears every night, collecting oils, skin cells, and moisture. Even with occasional cleaning, our coating and the silicone break down over time. Swapping them out is the simplest way to keep things fresh and clean.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How often should I replace my tips and wings?

Based on the average user's habits, these tips and wings should last one month. For those that use their Smartbuds nightly, they may want to replace them sooner. Signs it's time: your app indicates poor signal quality or you see visible wear, discoloration, or stretching.

Will new tips actually improve my sleep data?

Yes. The tips are part of the sensing pathway. When their coating degrades the electrodes lose conductivity with your ear. That causes gaps, dropouts, and lower-confidence sleep stage scoring. A fresh, well-fitted tip restores consistent contact and cleaner EEG signal.

How do I know which size to pick?

Start with the default size which comes pre-installed on your Smartbuds (Medium tips and Large sleeves). If you've been having fit issues, size each one up or down from there. The right tip should sit snugly without pressure, stay in place when you talk or move. Most people fall in the Medium/Large range.

What's the difference between Tips and Wings?

Tips (canal tips) are the silicone pieces that sit inside your ear canal. They form the seal and are the EEG sensors in the canal. Wings are the small, flexible, multi-material pieces that tuck into the outer part of your ear to anchor the bud so it doesn't fall out during the night or during movement and contain the outer two sensors for EEG signal capture.

How do I clean them between replacements?

Remove the tips and wings from the buds. Using a slightly damp (not wet), soft cloth, gently wipe down areas of the wing and tips that have accumulated any residue. Avoid using soap or alcohol. For best results, use purified water.
